Draft Housing Element Available for Review

Over the past two years, the City has undertaken an update of its Housing Element, which is the chapter of the citywide planning document focused on meeting the housing needs and goals for the next eight years. Draft components of the document were prepared by the General Plan Advisory Committee, which were forwarded for review by the Planning Commission over the past four months.

On Monday, May 2nd, the Planning Commission reviewed the complete draft Housing Element to provide input before the document and forwarded a recommended version of the document to the City Council. The complete draft includes several technical analyses, proposals to improve access to and affordability of housing, identifies specific locations to be prioritized for new housing, and much more.

On May 9th, the City Council will conduct its first review of the document and, given its length, will discuss specific portions of the document. The remainder of the document is anticipated to be reviewed at the May 23rd Council meeting.
